1.  Constantine converts.  Edict of Milan and the emancipation of Christians caused Christianity to be the Church of the masses.

Church History

1.  Constantine converts.  Edict of Milan and the emancipation of Christians caused Christianity to be the Church of the masses.  The Church becomes a civil power.  

2.  Theology is commentary on scripture.  Pastor-theologians (bishops).  Ontological questions about Christ, Trinity.  Christian life = transformation in Christ through the Spirit.

Liturgical History

1.  Rituals become public and sanctioned by the State.  Liturgical ceremonies become more elaborate, often adopting elements from Constantine's court.  Belief in the Resurrection gives a Christian context to grief.
